Some of the great Timber Ridge Leadership Kids

Each year, Clover Ridge recruits volunteers to ride our afternoon buses for the first two weeks of school, to help ensure our new students navigate their new routes safely.  This year, we partnered with the Timber Ridge Leadership group to fill this role.  These kids are fantastic!  Carefully selected through a process that requires good grades and citizenship, Leadership students regularly look for volunteer opportunities to serve in their community.  When we asked for help, they stepped right in.  To thank them for their great attitudes and willing service, Principal Elisa Stephens and Office Manager Marcie Barnhart visited the students at school to treat them to a pizza party and let them know how much their service was appreciated.

We look forward to working with the Leadership kids again in the future, and are grateful for the good examples they set for Clover Ridge kids who might one day be Timber Ridge Leadership students as well!

Kelso’s Wheel

At Clover Ridge, we teach our students that they can solve small problems on their own, using Kelso’s Wheel.  Interim Principal Kilee Sowa helped create a great visual for our kids that reminds them of the many options they have to deal with small issues as they arise, such as:

  • Wait and cool off
  • Tell others to stop
  • Go to another game
  • Talk it out
  • Walk away
  • Apologize
  • Share and take turns
  • Ignore it
  • Make a deal

If you are interested in implementing/reinforcing Kelso’s Wheel at home,we have flyers in the office that you can stop in and pick up anytime.

This is hands on day, we do not dress up so no costumes please.

If you are interested in being part of the festivities, please make sure you have a cleared background check and have attended a volunteer orientation and then contact the office to sign up.  Thank you!
